Department of Energy and Nuclear Regulatory Commission Approved QAP

Murtco’s nuclear quality assurance program (QAP) implements the requirements of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, ASME NQA-1 Edition 2008, and 10 CFR 830 Subpart A (DOE 414.1D).

This program has been approved for quality–level 1 (QL-1) nuclear facility construction and maintenance-related work activities by LATA KY LLC, Uranium Disposition Services, United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC), Babcock & Wilcox Conversion Services (BWCS) and the USEC- American Centrifuge Plant. Murtco is a member of the Nuclear Industry Assessment Committee (NIAC).

The Murtco QAP is administered by a core staff of quality professionals who are experienced in all aspects of quality assurance and quality control system management for nuclear facility operation, construction and maintenance. These staff members are also certified NQA-1 lead auditors. Murtco’s corporate QA manager, with over 30 years of nuclear industry experience, oversees program activities and development, including the internal audit program and approval of suppliers for quality level items and services. The QA staff facilitates the flow down and implementation of QA requirements to all levels of work activities. Murtco personnel are routinely trained on their QA roles and responsibilities as related to project work activities. Murtco’s QAP ensures that projects are performed in accordance with customer contract requirements.

LATA KY, Babcock & Wilcox Conversion Services, and USEC are prime contractors with multi-million dollar contracts with the Department of Energy or lease agreements for facility use. Murtco has successfully performed in excess of 250 projects for these companies under our QAP. Murtco has a proven QAP that has passed several contractor audits allowing Murtco to remain certified to provide nuclear quality level services for these companies. Murtco is ready to perform work for any DOE contractor or NRC regulated site or facility.
